Dunn Street Primary School

Breakfast Club

Welcome to the Breakfast Club at Dunn Street Primary School, an initiative designed to give our students the best start to their day. We understand the morning rush can be challenging, and our Breakfast Club ensures that every child can enjoy a nutritious meal and engage in stimulating activities before school starts. This service is available from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM, providing a supportive and fun environment that sets them up for a day of learning and success. We invite all parents to register their children for a positive and energising start to their day.

From April 2026 we will be part of the DFE's governments free breakfast scheme as follows:

The government is committed to delivering on its pledge to provide a free breakfast club in every state-funded school with primary-aged children. The free breakfast clubs programme will support the government's aims of giving every pupil regardless of their background the best start in life, breaking down barriers to every child achieving and thriving at school and in later life, by ensuring they are ready to learn, as well as supporting families with cost of living, and tackling poverty.

Schools and trusts engaged on the programme must deliver a breakfast club that is:

  • open to all pupils on roll in Reception to Year 6
  • at least 30 minutes in duration, held immediately before the start of each compulsory school day
  • free and accessible
  • providing breakfasts that meet the School Food Standards for England
  • located on, or in the vicinity of, the school site

By taking part in the programme, schools will be giving their pupils access to a strong start to their day that will set them up to learn.

Our offer will continue to run from 8.30am every morning before school begins at 9am.
